So my bin has finally been emptied. The thing is, why change the day. It used to be Monday, now Wednesday. My parents bin day has changed from Wednesday to Monday. Is some overpaid civil servant just coming up with hairbrain ideas to stop their job getting stale. Who knows.

I've always been a big fan of Barocco's, great atmosphere great food, great prices and great service.
But, since the departure of Giuseppe to San Marino the place doesn't quite have the same buzz that it used to have. The food is still great but the front of house is lacking in some major umpf.
Although the loss of Giuseppe is a great blow for Barocco's something else has recently been brought to my attention that made me fume. As a great believer in tipping well for good service I have left thousands in tips over the years that Barocco's has been open. When I do tip I expect the proceeds to be divided amongst the waiting on staff that are paid minimum wage and normally depend on tips to make up the extra.

Burnden Park turnstile finds new home
|
|
A TURNSTILE rescued from Bolton Wanderers former home at Burnden Park has found a new resting place at an Egerton deli.
The turnstile was bought by Whites fan Paul Lister for £500 from fellow supporter Ian Gray, who bought it for £200 at a memorabilia auction after the ground closed in 1997.
Property developer Mr Lister, aged 44, originally bought the turnstile for his new home in Blackburn Road, which was once Egerton's post office.
However, he has now moved the turnstile to the Poppy Deli and cafe, which he has just opened in Egerton.

Pub landlord's campaign to save the local
|
|
JEREMY Jones runs two pubs in Turton and Egerton with his wife, Debra. Here he makes a personal and passionate plea for the endangered local pub . . .
YOU may have noticed that the price of your pint has gone up in the last couple of weeks. If it hasn't yet, it almost definitely will.
Unless you frequent those town centre pubs with midweek all-you-can-drink deals or some poor backwater tavern competing with a supermarket selling beer cheaper than fizzy water, then you might be feeling a bit miffed at being forced to pay up to £3 for your usual.
Basically, the brewers and pub companies have increased their wholesale prices by an average of four per cent which means that a pint of beer needs to go up in price by around 15 pence, just to maintain the same profit margin.
